SUSU Éditions
About
SUSU Editions is a pan-African publishing platform that brings together authors, readers, and industry professionals around African and Afro-diasporic literatures. Our editorial ecosystem supports texts from their inception to their circulation across local and international scenes.

Our name
Why SUSU?
SUSU is a word that crosses languages and the borders of the continent. In Ewe, it means the idea, the thought, the imagination — the raw material of all literature. In other African languages, it evokes weaving: that slow, precise gesture that connects threads to create something solid. Elsewhere, it names the tontine, that form of collective solidarity where each person contributes so that all can move forward.
These three meanings are no coincidence. They say exactly what we want to build: a place where imaginations unfold, where bonds are woven, and where the African and Afro-diasporic literary community moves forward together.
- EweImaginationThe idea, the thought, the raw material of all literature.
- WeavingBondsThat slow, precise gesture that connects threads to create something solid.
